Yorktown: British General Cornwallis and his troops built defensive positions in August 1781.
French and American forces blocked Cornwallis on land while the French Navy defeated the British in the Chesapeake Bay trapping the British.
On Oct. 19th 1781 "The was turned upside down for the British" who surrendered. Officially this was not the end of the war but made the British
Government question whether it was worth fighting anymore.
